welcome

  • aloha, my name is Leleʻiohoku.

I’m an ʻōiwi poet and Hawaiʻi local from Kāneʻohe, Oʻahu.

my hope is to uplift ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language) and others through my poetry.

as a reflection of my cultural heritage, my poetry is an inspired mixture of Hawaiian and Japanese styles.

  • koʻolau (noun): windward side of Hawaiian islands.

Koʻolau Haiku is a collection of poetry in ʻōlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian) and English — inspired by the style of Japanese haiku (俳句) and traditional Hawaiian proverbs (ʻōlelo noʻeau).

  • hoʻomaluhia (verb): to give peace or protection
